New adventures!

So I guess you know how much I love travelling. I have now two trips to look forward to. The first one is already this coming weekend 4-7th of Feb. I will be visiting my sister in Kalmar friday to monday. Yay! Travel plan no. 2: I just booked a flight to Brussels!!!! Will be going there 10-14th of March to see Vanessa who is currently doing practical training there. I've never been to Belgium and I'm convinced I will get the best guide a person can wish for.
These travelplans makes for a very happy Emma!!

Emma - the Geek - Nilsson

So the other day my dear sister informed me of a tv-series she had come across... Its called "The Legend of the Seeker" and is based on Terry Goodkind's Fantasy series "The Sword of Truth".. which only happens to be one of my favourite series since I was younger and was going through a "Fantasy stage". I can't stop watching it. Sure the effects are not great, but I dont care. The storyline is true to the story of books and thats all I care about. It's official... Emma the geek has returned!

It can be found here:

A "swede" Weekend

Sweet weekend indeed. No work, just fun times.
Saturday morning I felt like spring was in the air when I biked into town. This morning's Bodypump class was special as my close friend Emma Nilsson (not speaking of myself in third person - promise) held her own class for the first time. She did really well and I'm proud :) Did some running, rowing and biking and then met up with Lina for lunch at "Njutbar". Ate the bulgur-chicken-sallad (1 on the menu - I recommend). http://njutbar.se/
This was followed by some major spending (in Emma terms). Got work-out clothes, party clothes (H&M), hat, legwarmers and a lovely nice red lipstick (Make Up Store). A whole new outfit for the party.

It was my first ever party with Hb (Hornbach) people but hopefully not the last. Went by bus to Staffansstorp (small place in middle of nowhere). Pre-drinks for a few hours and then taxi to a place that made Staffanstorp look like a metropolitan. The party was in honour of Patricia Andersson who is now a qualified teacher. Congrats to her! They had rented this really great place and a band to entertain.

A bad plan?

So today I decided to be real efficient and go to gym before work. Sure, I wasnt there until roughly 8:30am, but when you finish working at 8:30pm... that makes for a pretty tough day! 2pm to 5pm I was ready to put my head down on the desk and sleep... then things turned around after dinner. There wasnt many customers, but plenty of nice employees to talk to :) I made it through another day!

iLife

Another iThing has joined my iLife. I have finally given in and updated my 8-year old Sony Ericsson phone with an iPhone 3GS. Reason I didn't get 4 is that I don't think it's financially worth it. I got a really good deal for this one and I'm so far very happy with it.

Vanessa is going to Brussels tomorrow. I will miss having her around but I'm looking forward to visiting her in the spring at some point.

I have another two trips planned for this spring. In February I'm gonna go visit my sister at her university in Kalmar, and later on in March my sister and I will travel a week somewhere warm :)

The snow is slowly disappearing and finally I can go by bike again. The ground has been covered by snow for a month straight. Some kind of record here in the south.

A swing for fitness

I'm really enjoying trying some new exercise classes. Today Emma and I first did indoor walking, then core, and finished off with Body Combat. Body Combat (Les Mills) is basically a mix of different martial arts and aerobics. The aim is not to make the perfect kicks etc but to keep moving to the music, sweat and improve coordination and fitness. Great exercise music. My aim is to keep up better next time, even if I don't think I did too badly today.

For those who don't know what Body Combat is...

So much to do, So little time...

Sorry its taken long since my last entry. I have been very busy, just the way I like it. Currently my life feels a bit messy, I don't really know what's gonna happen and what's going on. One thing I know for a fact is that I'm very much enjoying going to a gym again. All weekend, saturday, sunday, monday I went to classes w Emma. Liking it :) I had never tried Indoor Walking before. My legs and bum were not so pleasently surprised, but I was definitely. Fun class! Will be doing that again. Besides that I'm enjoying meeting up with friends to take my mind of job searching. It's amazing the amount of time and energy one can put into job applications. Besides this I'm also working at Hornbach while starting to prepare for a university module in Social Work starting next week.

Odd start to 2011

The first five days of 2011 has been packed with odd events in Sweden and elsewhere. On 1st of Jan. a train crashed into Malmö station and part of it got completely demolished! On the same day it was found that famous swedish actor Per Oscarsson's house in the middle of no-where had burned to the ground without anyone noticing. It is believed both he and his wife both burned in.Today it has been confirmed that the remains of two bodies have been found. Again on the same day, in the morning a 65 year-old lady was found to have been locked in at Kalmar Castle over the night and as a result froze to death. Yesterday, 4th January a big crane tipped over in central Malmö and crushed a car and people fleed in panic. People have again started dying from swineflue. Only a few cases in Sweden so far, but in the UK 39 people have died and for another 738 people it is critical. In the early hours of 5th of Jan. hundreds of jackdaws dropped dead to the ground in Falköping. This has also happened in the USA at new years eve and it is believed there might be a connection. Scientists are now working on trying to find the reason. Either way it is believed to be a bad omen since birds normally react earlier to things than humans. Considering that it's many nights after new years, the explanation that they were all frightened by fireworks does not suffice.

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

What a relief! The year’s most overrated day is over! And what a relief that it turned out really successful! I hate how there is such pressure to do something extraordinary and great for this one last night of the year. It’s the same thing year after year.Vanessa and I were invited to join Lina and her friends for dinner and then party. We happily accepted the invite. Dressed to impress (as you're expected to) in one of my new favourite dresses (bought at "Republic"). The menu of the evening was:

Starter: Grilled Halloumi Cheese with a homemade shrimpt cocktail

Main: Potatoes au gratin with stuffed chicken fileés and sallad

Dessert: "Pannacottapaj" (a kind of raspberry pie)

After midnight and raising our glasses for the new year the whole party of roughly 12 people grabbed taxis and ended the evening at club "Hipp".
