Quitters

Yesterday we had a new arrival in Jersey. Another 41 kids are now on our island. My job however, due to lack of leaders, was to spend the day on the beach with the group already on the island. It was 29 degrees and not a single cloud all day.
This is how I want to see the STS backpack every day!

...And check out my new hat!

The cloud didn't come until later in the day... but nowhere near the sky.
I have never been a quitter, and I don't like quitters. I don't understand the concept of giving up. I can't give you more details than that. But the message is: I'm annoyed!

Lets go surfin' now...Everybody's learning how...

Thursday I went with the students to their surf lesson. I got some instructions myself, and by the third attempt I had my feet up on the board. I fell off so quick I wasn't even sure I actually had been up, but the instructor's excited yelling confirmed it. Half an hour later I was properly standing up. Wow! Gotta love that feeling. After 2,5 hours struggling around with my soft board in the Atlantic waves I was exhausted and retired back to the beach. In the evening I went on a little taster-walk out from Jersey with an experienced guide.

The tidal difference in Jersey is the third largest in the world. At low tide you walk about 2km out, depending on the tide of course. However to be safe, its best to do this with a guide as the tide rise really quickly and doesn't move in a straight line but can go in a circle around you. This means that without noticing you can end up on your own little excluded island which then completely floods. Not a good plan!

The perks!

It's lucky this job comes with some pretty sweet perks. Long hours and a pay I dont even wanna think about. Today I got to go 30min on a jet ski. It was awesome!!! It was really windy and wavy but brilliant sun. I only wish I had worn sunglasses as I was struggling to see properly. I was bouncing along across the waves in high speed. Pure rush! Here's a little selection of the few photos I have taken here in Jersey.

Me - Sing?! WHAT?!?

I feel like I'm running around like a chicken who lost its head. Life in Jersey is still crazy. If we dont have problem A, then there's B. Always! For instance, today I've been inspecting some venues, collecting risk assessment and then finally sung karaoke on a stage infront of the students. I mean common... me sing? Holly and I did Marshmallow (i think thats what it was called), and then we forced the kids' leader Clara to join us for Mamma Mia. Classic! I hope they enjoyed it, and that me making a fool of myself made someone happy. The hotel should be grateful too, the neighbourhood definitely will not have a cat problem any time soon!

I'm actually a bit excited about tomorrow. When I go see one of our suppliers I'm gonna get to go on a jetskii (free of charge). Yay to that!!!

Check, Check, Check

OMG!
The last two days have been manic, and I'm not expecting it to get easier in the coming 2 days or so. Thursday Jonna and I spent running around our coursetown and sorting out our office. Carrying lots of boxes from the storage room to our beautiful little office. Literally boxes covering the entire floor.
Office full of supplies - Check!
Picking up car and drive of left side of the road for the first time in my life - Check! (and I'm still alive)
Mistake the neighbours door for ours, making him think we were trying to break in to his house 23:30 - Check!
Welcome the first lot of students - Check!
Two days of working 16h/day - Check!
Still feeling happy - Check!

The UK keeps pulling me back...

I can honestly say that my heart is torn in two between England and Sweden. I can't be in one place without missing the other. I don't even know which country I rather be in. I have wonderful friends in both countries. Visiting now last week reminded me exactly how much I enjoy living in England. I had such good time there and miss the wonderful ppl already.

In short my trip was shopping, shopping, good food, good friends, touristing in London and revisiting my old University.

In London I finally got to see the changing of the guards, and really glad I did. Following that Kirsty and I went to a free meditation session in Covent Garden at "Innerspace". We then went to the Royal Court of Justice and sat in the gallery for a trial... and not any trial...a murder trial! It felt unreal and extremely fascinating. After a quick stop at the Hunterian Museum (human and animal parts in jars) we met up with Lizzy for some pizza hut and musical: Priscilla. Colorful and funny!

Here's some selected pictures from my trip...

Kirsty and her boyfriend Kyle (in Ipswich)

A musical about dragqueens in Australia :)

Night out at University of Essex.

Tomorrow I'm off to Jersey to start my job as "Activity and Sales Coordinator for STS" - nervous but excited!

New Release & Summer Fun

Since my last day of work (tuesday) I've enjoyed every second of my mini holiday. It doesn't hurt that each day has been sunny and warm as well. I've done some exercise, sun bathed, played volleyball in a park and today I finally swam in the ocean for the first time this year! Twice!

This weekend has been "release weekend" for les mills group training @fitness24seven and I attended all 4 different classes: bodystep, bodypump, bodycombat and bodybalance. Lots of good music and new moves. I'm a bit upset that I barely will get to do this release at all since I will be away for two months (each release lasts for 3 months). By the time I get back everyone else will be experts at them and I will look, well, not like an expert :P

Sunday evening was finished off with a nice 3-course meal @Elysé with Åsa and Lena from Axis. Really nice to see them before I leave :)

Tomorrow 10:15am my plane departs from Copenhagen. 11:30am Kirsty will pick me up from Stansted (London) and then let the shenanigans begin!
I will be seeing these lovely ladies among others!

Countdown

So my summer in England is closing in... not long now. But while awaiting my challenge and adventure at Jersey I make sure to make the most of my time. Saturday was eventful. Starting the morning with gymming at fitness24seven @Värnhem, then helping work mate Lena to move and then celebrations for Emma who turned 25 the other week. Really great party w nice people. Was not in bed until 4:30am. Way late for someone not used to partying :P

Yesterday was my last day of work @Axis Communications. Mixed emotions about leaving this place. Nice because I know where I'm now going, sad because I like the place and the people. The team met up for cake and I got a present and card. A set from Bodyshop. Sweet of them.

Today mini-Nilsson returned to Skåne =) nice to have her back... again...

Next monday I'm going for a short little holiday trip to see my dear english friends. I'm soooo excited and can't wait!! It will be a fun and intense week I'm sure! Miss them so much!!
