The tidal difference in Jersey is the third largest in the world. At low tide you walk about 2km out, depending on the tide of course. However to be safe, its best to do this with a guide as the tide rise really quickly and doesn't move in a straight line but can go in a circle around you. This means that without noticing you can end up on your own little excluded island which then completely floods. Not a good plan!

Lets go surfin' now...Everybody's learning how...
Thursday I went with the students to their surf lesson. I got some instructions myself, and by the third attempt I had my feet up on the board. I fell off so quick I wasn't even sure I actually had been up, but the instructor's excited yelling confirmed it. Half an hour later I was properly standing up. Wow! Gotta love that feeling. After 2,5 hours struggling around with my soft board in the Atlantic waves I was exhausted and retired back to the beach. In the evening I went on a little taster-walk out from Jersey with an experienced guide.
